Assisted Living in Florida

Supportive residential communities for seniors who need help with daily activities while maintaining as much independence as possible.

What Is Assisted Living?

Assisted living is a type of residential care designed for older adults who need some help with daily activities — such as bathing, dressing, medication management, or meals — but who do not require the around-the-clock skilled medical care provided in a nursing home.

In Florida, assisted living facilities (ALFs) are licensed and regulated by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). They range from small, home-like settings with a handful of residents to larger communities with dozens of apartments and extensive amenities.

Most assisted living communities offer private or semi-private apartments, communal dining, housekeeping, transportation, and a range of social and recreational activities. The level of personal care provided varies by community and by the individual resident's needs.
